A Series of Miracles: George’s Story of Survival as a Hidden Child
January 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, established by the United Nations to promote Holocaust education and to honor Holocaust victims, including six million Jews. This year marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, where over one million were murdered.
George miraculously survived the Holocaust in France by being hidden by a family friend while his parents were deported to Auschwitz. After the war, he was adopted by his great-uncle in Los Angeles, where he went on to build a successful life as a dentist, marrying, and raising two children. He now has five grandchildren and considers his life to be a series of miracles.
Presented by the JFCS Holocaust Center in partnership with American Jewish Committee, Anti-Defamation League, Consulate General of Germany, Consulate General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest, Consulate General of Portugal, JCRC Bay Area, and StandWithUS.
