The Next Chapter

The Next Chapter enables high school youth to develop profound connections with Holocaust survivors. By participating in the program, students build a special community of social responsibility and genocide awareness and are awarded 40 hours of community service.

Through the Next Chapter program, students learn how to:

  • Interview Holocaust survivors and document their stories
  • Study the history of the Holocaust and patterns of genocide through text, archival items, and film
  • Create a personal reflection project

Time commitment: Students will meet in a seminar once every three weeks from January through May. In addition, they will connect with Holocaust survivors three or four times throughout the semester.

The application period for the 2016-2017 Next Chapter program is now closed. For more information, please contact Yedida Kanfer, Coordinator of Education Services, at or call 415-449-3748.
