Jon R. Norman is the Chief Research and Evaluation Director at JFCS and Senior Research Fellow at the Holocaust Center. Working with the Holocaust Center, Jon brings expertise in research, evaluation, and continuous improvement methods to support the generation of evidence demonstrating the impact of Holocaust and genocide education on students, educators, and other audiences. He also has extensive experience in adult learning and professional development through work done supporting educators in improving outcomes for students most historically disadvantaged by education systems. Jon holds a PhD in sociology and an MS in architectural history from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA in public policy from Brown University. He has published articles on Jewish identity, LGBTQI+ Jewish community-making, and Jewish immigration. Prior to joining JFCS, he was the managing director of evidence and analytics at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, a researcher at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, and on the sociology faculties of DePaul University and Loyola University Chicago.
