Reviving the Artist Who Fought Hitler: My Life with Arthur Szyk, with Irvin Ungar
Please join us for this free in-person program, co-presented with the the Jewish Community Library.
Arthur Szyk was once world-famous—America’s leading anti-Nazi artist, a man Hitler reportedly put a bounty on and the US military called a “citizen-soldier” of the free world. His illuminated Declaration of Independence hangs in the Library of Congress; his Passover Haggadah is considered one of the most beautiful books ever made. After his death in 1951, he was nearly forgotten.
In Reviving the Artist Who Fought Hitler, Irvin Ungar—rabbi turned rare-book dealer and the world’s leading Szyk scholar—tells the story of how he spent three decades bringing Szyk’s art and legacy back into public view.
Join us to hear that story firsthand, see rarely seen images of Szyk’s work, and get your copy signed.
This program is made possible, in part, by Anita Feinstein.
