In 1941, Stanley Steyer’s sister and brother-in-law, Helena and David, were proud new parents. We see them here lifting up their daughter Nina for a photo. They gave Nina a loving nickname: Nineczka.

A year or two later, Helena, David, and Nina went into hiding to avoid deportation. In 1944, they were betrayed, arrested, and shot.
