Stanley Steyer and Israel (Srulek) Dzialowski walk down a main street in Kielce, Poland, in 1938. The two men had been friends since their school years in the Jewish gymnasium in Kielce.
Both Stanley and Israel survived the Holocaust. Israel immigrated to Palestine under British Mandate and adopted a Hebrew last name: Ben-Ari. Stanley escaped the Warsaw ghetto and lived under a false identity on the “Aryan” side of the city. He placed family and friends in hiding and supported them; he also provided support to the underground Jewish resistance in the Warsaw ghetto. After the war, Stanley and his wife, Diana, moved to the United States, and then Venezuela.
